Suzuki Ayao returns home to Saitama City as Japan squad rallies around him
Japan national team goalkeeper Suzuki Ayao (24) visited his hometown of Saitama City on July 15 during the squad’s pre-FIFA World Cup 2026 training camp. He was greeted warmly by local fans and officials, and shared moments with teammates during the session.
The squad’s last match was the June 29 loss to Brazil (2-1), and Suzuki’s presence injected fresh energy into the group.
Squad unites to welcome homegrown talent
The welcome event in Saitama City drew head coach Moriyasu Hajime, alongside key players Endo Hiroki, Ito Junya, and Mitoma Kaoru. Suzuki said the local support "gave me strength," and reinforced his sense of pride as a national team member.
